Interior show-stoppers

Although my design philosophy has always been about layering elements and the composition of a space as a whole, sometimes, one fabulous, show-stopping feature is all that’s needed to pull a look together or to inject the right amount of boldness into a space.

Here’s a selection of some of my favourites…

In an otherwise neutral, subdued living space, the bright pop of colours in the artwork give this room a completely different, edgier feel.

The black walls in this bedroom are no doubt bold, but they work so well with all that crisp white. I’m often underwhelmed with monochrome spaces, but the hit of black paint here makes this room nothing but inviting.

The paired-down combo of grey and warm wood gives this space a minimal and almost corporate feeling, yet all is transformed with that fabulous, curvaceous LED pendant light – stealing the show and lifting this space into something impressive.

Leopard print is generally daring territory, let alone Dalmation print! This space proves that moderation is key – clean white, Dalmation print wallpaper used sparingly and a hint of gleaming brass. Just on the right side of adventurous.

A bright blue, geometric print rug would not be the first thing to cross my mind if working out what this space was lacking, but here is works perfectly. Unexpected and bringing a freshness to this living room.

Although the large windows and flood of natural light is appealing, this office would practically be all white without the addition of that forest green chair. It lifts the room and adds enough vibrance, all on its own.

OK, so this one’s technically not one feature, but look at those walls! A daring entrance in glossy teal that works so well, and is kept luxurious and elegant with the gold ceiling and brass Sputnik pendant.
