Heal’s Autumn / Winter 2017 Press Preview

Heals AW17 lighting range

It’s beautifully warm outside – we’re at last able to wear those summer dresses, dine al fresco, get some colour and enjoy every minute of the balmy evenings.

So why in the world would we want to start thinking about the winter season rolling in?

When we’re given a fabulous, exclusive preview of the upcoming A/W 17 collections from Heal’s, as well as a sneak peak into the seasonal trends before anyone else… that’s when!

Heal

Heal’s filled the buzzing, Soho event space at 19 Greek Street earlier this month with a handful of the beautiful collections we’ll see in store later this year.

Here’s my preview of the upcoming Autumn / Winter 2017 design trends and my favourite pieces from the Heal’s collections…

T R E N D:

RICH, JEWEL HUES

While Spring / Summer has seen fresh, light colours from dusty pink to grass green filling our homes, Autumn / Winter brings a bolder, more opulent palette of royal blue, emerald green, burgundy & violet.

We’ll see this jewel-like selection of hues in equally plush fabrics, including super soft, tufted velvet.

 FAVOURITE PIECE:

HEAL’S RICHMOND SOFA

This sofa has beautiful curves and thick cushions that I could sink into and feel as cosy as ever.

And how gorgeous is this emerald colour?

Moody and dramatic sets the scene for the upcoming season and this sofa will help you create just that feeling in your living room.

LUSTROUS, IRIDESCENT ACCESSORIES

Many of us no doubt have plenty of brushed copper and brass details dotted throughout our homes.

While metallics will still be here, A/W sees our accessories get a luxurious enhancement – think burnished and oil-effect finishes, highly reflective sheens and almost holographic surfaces.

 FAVOURITE PIECE:

GREEN GLAZE PLATTER BY MERVYN GERS

I think my love affair with green is starting to show!

This gorgeous, glazed plate is my favourite from the collection.

The dimpled effect gives it a handmade quality, while the glossy finish adds a sophisticated feel.

The rich teal is stunning and almost too good to cover over!

T R E N D:

SCANDI-STYLE INTERIORS

Scandi-style design tends to come back each winter, and with good reason.

If anyone knows how to create the ultimate, cozy interior, the Scandinavians do. Hey, even the Oxford Dictionary had something to say about it, naming “Hygge” the word of the year last year.

While the style is synonymous with pale hues, soft textiles and blonde wood, this A/W gives us a more ashy, slightly greyer finish.

Wooden pieces are paired with navy and white to keep the look clean.

FAVOURITE PIECE:

HEAL’S MORTEN BED

The Morton collection from Heal’s includes a range of bedroom furniture, but top of my list is the Morton bed.

The fabric headboard softens the white-washed wood but keeps the piece understated.

Pile this bed high with a mix of soft, contrasting textiles in greys and blues and you have yourself comforting place to dream indeed.
